My name is Jonathan Burns. I am a Middle School Math Teacher in Virginia. I work at a lower income school where a majority of my students do not get to see any forms of technology in their lives. We live in a world today where almost everyone has a smartphone. When my students see an iPhone, they get blown away. It was a shocking reality for me!
I want to bring technology to my classroom!! The Kindle Fire has an INCREDIBLE amount of uses in a classroom. Educational apps, apps for educational games/quizzes/knowledge checks and so much more. Next year, our standards require us to use DESMOS - which is an online calculator (scientific and graphing). I cannot implement an online calculator without the device to go along with it. The app for this calculator is the exact same as the computer will have on all of their tests.
My school simply does not have the budget for this. I understand the reality of getting a computer for each student and going "one-to-one" is just not feasible. But what if I can get a class set of Kindle Fires to utilize educationally? Each student can have access to it during their time in my room! The reality is that I simply cannot afford to go spend $2500 on a teacher's salary to enhance my classroom.
I am asking you for help! If you have anything at all to spare, please considering donating to my classroom! Every penny will go to buy Kindle Fires for my classroom and my students! Everything you see in these photos (except my really old SmartBoard) to enhance my classroom already was funded by me personally. Your generous donation will go a LONG way to enhance the education of my students!
