Flexible seating will allow my students to be comfortable when they come to my classroom to learn the skills they need to be successful in their general education classrooms. I have students who range in service time from 30 minutes to 3 hours! While in my room I want them to take control of their learning by choosing seating that works best for them. Many of my students utilize fidget items for hands, but we do not have any options for students who need physical movement at tables.
Having a variety of seating choices will give my students who need to get their wiggles out, or need to move somewhere else in the room, a safe and rewarding environment to do that in! Utilizing Lakeshore Learning Material's 14" and 16" Wobble Chairs will allow students of all sizes to sit at the small-group tables and get their movement out. The 14" and 16" wobble chairs can also be pulled to the SMART Board and white board for group instruction. I have noticed how much my students have loved learning at the board, but they struggle to sit in the standard student chairs provided by the school. The Flex Space Wobble Cushion will allow students who do not like the full movement of the wobble chair to still get sensory input from the cushion. They will still be able to wiggle and feel the soft nubs on both sides for sensory input. This cushion can also be used on the floor anywhere in the classroom. The Soft Seat Cushion can also be used anywhere in the room my students need an extra soft place to rest, learn, or read!
