Technology is a valuable asset in our current society. We will use our Chromebooks in a variety of ways within our English/Language Arts classroom. I would like to implement video lessons for advanced students. We will be able to conduct research easily and we will be able to collaborate on projects. This technology will also be a huge asset for my students who are special education and English as a second language. Collaboration is a major positive of having Chromebooks in our classroom. The students will be able to work on projects on their individual computer, while working with another student in live time, from across the room. Past projects were put on hold because of the lack of availability of technology for my classes. Research is much easier with the world at our fingertips on a Chromebook. We don't have enough technology to go around for all the classrooms to use so having my own set of technology will allow us to progress. I would like to upload videos for my students who are advanced and finish work before others in the room. They will be able to watch my mini lessons and proceed with work while I assist other students. The technology will be helpful for my special education students who need assistance with writing. They can use speech to text to help them put their thoughts into words. It will also help my English language students by allow them to use Google translate for work within the classroom. This will allow them to see the English and the Spanish versions of the work so they can comprehend the work.
