I like to establish a love of reading in my students. In order to do so, I teach literacy through book studies. I choose engaging and entertaining books that the students may or may not have heard of. When I introduce Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone the majority of my class have seen the movie, but haven't read the book. When we read the book, the students are amazed at the material that is left out of the movie. When I introduce new books like Found, the students are intrigued by the title and premise of the story. It is not until after a few chapters that they are really invested in the book. The majority of students that leave my classroom, leave with the love of reading.
