My goal is to provide a comfortable and customized environment for my students. Not everyone learns in the same 'position'. Many students have 'wiggles' that they need to get out! Flexible seating enables students to find how they are most comfortable to sit to work and participate in class learning. My ultimate hope is that behavior issues decrease and learning increases. I have requested a few different seating tools to help students work around my classroom. Research shows that making students comfortable and giving them choices increases learning and confidence. Bouncy bands go on chairs for students to bounce their feet on. Balance balls are for students to sit and sway on while working. Lap trays allow students to have a work space while sitting on the floor. Seat cushions give students a little room to wiggle while sitting in a regular chair at their desk. These items will make a difference in my students' learning because we cannot expect the best from them if they are not comfortable. Thank you for your consideration!
