A large part of what we learn in 6th grade is how to become self-sufficient and self-motivated learners. Flexible seating allows students to learn what type of seating arrangement works well for them, and where they will struggle. By giving them flexible seating options, we are helping them to grow more as individuals and as learners. Currently, my students sit at desks and most struggle to make their academic growth goals. But it is my hope that with other seating options available to them, they will have the opportunity to flourish. The products I have selected are only the beginning of what I have envisioned for my classroom in the future, but every journey has to start somewhere. The exercise balls will allow my "bouncier" students an option to move while learning, without leaning back in their chairs. The floor cushions and seats, will provide my students with options where they can be comfortable working on clipboards, or at a lowered desk.
