We have a room dedicated to the students diverse needs called a sensory room and motor lab. Teachers can have special lessons in this room using the sensory items or allow a student to complete an activity that will allow them to sit for longer periods and focus on learning. We have a few items in this room but not enough to meet the diverse needs of our students. We have students who are visually impaired, hard of hearing. Many are diagnosed with autism, cognitive disabilities, and various learning disabilities. They need supplies for input for all senses. Some students benefit from compression such as a body sock while others may need to rock or require tactile or visual stimulation in order to calm their body enough to focus their brain to learn.
