I am a special education teacher who co-teaches with the general education math teacher, while providing special education support in the classroom. I also teach separate classes that give my special education students the extra help they need in math. I work with students who have Individualized Education Plans for Learning Disabilities, Emotional Disabilities and Autism. I also have student who have ADHD. Flexible seating will help the students I have, focus more in classes, and get the most out of their education. Many of my students have movement breaks, and flexible seating options listed on their IEP's to help with focus. My goal is to provide the option of flexible seating, rather than a completely traditional approach to seating in the classroom. I've chosen five seating options that would benefit my students: 1. Sprogs Vinyl Soft Seating stool, which is cushiony, but does not have a back. It keeps students sitting straight and provides comfort for those with sensory needs. 2. Safeco Zenergy Ball Chair, which keeps students alert, sitting upright. 3. Vivora Luna Sitting Ball Chair, which helps, with posture and allows students to slightly sit and roll back and forth while learning, allowing ADHD students to focus more. 4. Kids Kore Wobble Chair, which allows students to move in a circular motion while working independently or during instruction. This helps keep any student with a learning disability, ADHD or Autism, focused. 5. The Surf Portable Lap Desk, which will benefit my students who learn better while working on the floor. They are able to use the flat surface for writing and for chromebooks.
