My brilliant, lovable middle-schoolers and high school seniors are members of the Navajo Nation in New Mexico and residents of the reservation. They go to an alternative school under the BIE, and face many emotional, social, and racial challenges that have been a part of this area's legacy since 1861. Regardless, my students are bright, fun, and looking for the best parts of their lives everyday. Our school is small - my largest class is 27 (and includes every single 8th grader at the school) and my smallest is my 9 seniors. But the show keeps going! For half of the day, grammar, reading, and writing, for the rest: functions, radians, trig, and square roots everyday!
