My students have been using mouthpieces that have been used for at least a decade. The mouthpieces they use have the silver plating coming off of them and have been deteriorating for a long time. These materials will improve student learning by providing them with the appropriate equipment for playing their instrument. Right now they are essentially playing with one arm tied behind their back and have been working diligently and efficiently to make strong progress on their instruments. Some students have also had to resort to sharing, which I am completely against as it is unsanitary. I have anti-bacterial mouthpiece spray that they use, but we are in desperate need for new and clean mouthpieces.
