While our student body is diverse, our library reading materials are not. I believe our students need to "see" themselves in the stories they read and we are failing them if we don't give them access to diverse books!! I want all children to know that their experiences in life matter and that they are important. Reading diverse books will also help our students develop empathy and sympathy for those outside their window. My plan is to pair up the new books with others we have and do an alike/different project!
