All students want is to learn and succeed in the classroom. We are seeing a rise in children who have sensory needs, which require certain materials in order feel in control of their own bodies. The children in our classroom are very good at being sensory regulators. They are able to tell us when they need a break or need a moment to calm their bodies from over stimulation.
By donating to this project, you will give my students a safe place to go and materials to use to regain control of their bodies. The materials I am asking for will do just that.
The bean bags will offer a place for them to go and sit. A place they can use the stretch balls or rain makers. A place they can feel safe to take some deep breaths into the pinwheel. We will use some materials at carpet time, for instance the gel lap pads will be great for the students that need a little resistance while sitting for an extended time.
These materials will create a positive impact on their daily lives in the classroom. It will enhance their abilities to not only focus on their well being, but also their ability to learn academics.
