My students are wonderful and troubled, they want to dream but have been burned and so choose to be cautious. They are predominantly Special education, English language learners who come from a low socioeconomic background. They may choose education and a positive way of life, or the way of gangs. It is that important that we reach them and renew their hope in adults and education. If you knew my students you would want to help them and they would realize that not everyone has given up on them.
