When you walk into my classroom, I hope the first thing you notice is that my students are actively engaged in learning. Many students thrive by being social in the classroom, but others need peace to focus. By allowing students to chose to use noise cancelling headphones students are given control of their learning environment. Other students need movement to help them concentrate. We utilize yoga balls in the classroom but fidget bands for desks will allow students to work off their wiggles and focus on learning. Developmentally, first graders need a variety of hands on activities to engage them in learning. My students love science and enjoy building and creating and I need to nourish their interests with STEM activities that match their interests. This leads them to develop problem solving and social skills that they will use throughout their lives. Help me ensure my students' futures are as bright as they are!
