Theses materials will allow for students to work in a tactile physical aspect of math. Students will be able to gain a concrete understanding of place value and number sense through the use of tactile and kinesthetic hands on math manipulatives. Many students struggle to understand the abstract concepts in math. These materials will help to increase student engagement, interest, and understanding of such a vital elementary math concept. Students will learn to understand and apply number sense while physically manipulating the numbers to add, subtract, multiply, and divide. The base ten material manipulatives will help my 4th graders gain a concrete understanding of number sense.
