For any student, organization is the key to success. Knowing what they have due and when, while also maintaining other responsibilities such as studying for tests, appointments with tutors or even sports obligations can overwhelm many students. For my special needs, middle schoolers it is near impossible.
Many special needs students, no matter how high functioning, struggle with organization and this one gift could change that! With this planner they can write down assignments, upcoming trips, tests and events. With the proper assistance (each student is different) they can start to plan for these things. For example if they have a test coming up I can teach them how to set up a schedule for review that will not overwhelm them but help them maintain their skills so they are ready for the test and not just cramming the night before. It also helps for parents to see what their kids are working on and when assignments are due. I post everything online but some of my parents complain that they do not have access to the internet to check it. This will eliminate that need and they can even use this book to write me notes or send in letters. I will bring in stickers and other art supplies so students can personalize the planners.
