The Dot and Dash and Legos will be available to the whole school. I am currently the gifted coordinator for our school. There is currently no funding for our gifted program so to have kits with exciting materials available to our students will add such excitement to the stem projects we will write to go with these amazing supplies. As teachers teach thinking skills and problem solving they can put the students into groups and have them learn the skills of group work, adaptation, and creative and critical thinking. Most of our students would have these experiences no where else so this will truly enrich their learning. Currently, our students do online activities with coding, but having a hands on moving real robot to control and problem solve with will move them into a different realm of thinking. This will also be the case as they do detailed STEM activities with the Lego bricks. We will also have younger kids being part of a team with older kids as the mentors which will make these activities even more interactive.
