I am requesting sensory items like boxing equipment, noise-cancelling headphones and a compression canoe for calming, connecting and overcoming challenges. My social and emotional behavior (SEB) class students cope with overwhelming emotions to process trauma and specific disorders. Our sensory room is a safe place for students to process those emotions safely. I want to provide them with as many tools as possible to help them work through their trauma. My classroom has chosen to teach pro-social skills instead of using punitive measures when kids misbehave. I believe that all behavior is communication and that healing comes when loving adults provide connection and coping skills in a safe environment; my sensory room is just such a place for healing. It already includes a stand up punching bag, soft crash pads and multiple types and sizes of balls to throw or sit on. I want to enhance the sensory room with more boxing gloves and pads, Beyblades, a soft light projector, sanitizing supplies, a document scanner for contacting parents, mounting tape to create soft edges on posters, a compression cozy canoe, salt rock, games, rainbow washi tape and noise cancelling headphones. We asked the kids what they wanted and listened to their input. Please help us to help them!
