My students are very visual learners. They love to touch, feel, and play with things that they use to learn. Due to their disabilities, most of my students have limited language and fine motor skills. This makes traditional methods of learning math difficult for us to use. We need more items that can be used by little hands. These giant tracing numbers, magnetic number tins, and unlock it number matching will allow my students to use their busy hands to learn about numbers, counting, and other math strategies. The giant tracing numbers will allow my students to use more gross motor skills to learn to write their numbers. The magnetic number tins will allow my students to use real-world, engaging tools to solve math problems and count. My students will love using problem solving skills and practicing their fine motor skills with the unlock-it number matching locks. All of these activities will give my students more access to the math curriculum and more ways to express their learning.
