At a young age our students start to embrace their learning and set goals for their own knowledge. When students are given choice and voice to drive how they learn they take ownership and show pride in what they are doing. In kindergarten learning is endless, students are like sponges and pick up on learning in ways we do not see. It is very important for kids to be engaged and excited in the classroom. My students need reading and math games that drive their learning. These game need to grab their attention, so they can work towards their standards-based goals in reading and math. Students set these goals to know what and why they are working on a skill. As teachers, we have to remember what we tell our kids they may forget, what we teach them they may remember but if we involve them and let them drive their own goals they will learn it. Engagement, passion, and goals even at a young age will drive students to take the jump in learning and never look back.
