All of our students want to play an instrument. Our classes taught in the school building only have enough instruments for a few students to play at a time. Having more instruments will provide students hands-on opportunities to explore and play a variety of instruments, feel the beat, play simple accompaniments and melodies, create sound effects, and begin to recognize and create patterns and rhythms. Having more instruments for students to use will enhance music learning experiences, engage students, and encourage further music exploration. By using melodic instruments like tone bells and rhythmic instruments like drums and maracas students can learn about and experience various elements of music like harmony, form, texture, and rhythm. My students have shown an interest in music and these instruments will help enrich and expand their experiences and understanding of music.
