Our PE teacher is starting a program with students to track their fitness using Kid Power Bands. These bands are fitness trackers that keep track of student steps without tracking their location. As students get more steps and particiapte in Kid Power brain breaks, they earn "coins" through UNICEF Kid Power. The more coins students earn on the website, UNICEF donates food to starving children around the world. Using the UNICEF kid power program is becoming a school-wide initiative. The Kid power bands will enhance the students' connection to the project. By using the Kid Power Bands, the students will then see the immediate benefits of their exercise- both physically and in their postive impact on our global community. Students and classes will set goals for their fitness and for their charitable cause simultaenously. This project will support our students' health and fitness, and will also teach them global awareness and activism- creating amazing global citizens! These are important skills to instill in children so that they continue to use them throughout their lives.
