The students are working on learning to keep a steady beat on drums while other students play the melody on the barred instruments. We would love to have another drum for these activities. Unfortunately we do not have enough drums for our students. The students find great joy in creating accompaniments and melodies. When they hear how it all work together as a finished product they feel very accomplished. They are amazed they can play beautiful music together. Using music to teach helps the students develop listening skills and make connections across the curriculum as various subjects are integrated with their music lesson.
