My students will use the items that I am requesting during centers and brain breaks. It has been proven that through imaginative and open ended play students benefit in many ways. As my class uses these STEM tools they will have the opportunity to boost their critical thinking skills, promote creativity, work on problem solving skills, and have time to develop social competency with their peers. By donating to my project, you will allow my students to use research based tools for STEM curriculum during their school day. STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) improves competitiveness in school and future workforce development. Students become innovative as they think deeply through the building and open ended play that these activities appropriately provide. I have seen how engaged and creative first graders are when provided the opportunity to play with items like Magformers, Brain Flakes, and Dado Squares. This project will help enrich their 1st grade experience as they increase their vocabulary, plan and problem solve, collaborate with one another and enjoy the curiosities and imaginations that 6 and 7 year olds innately have.
