I chose scooters because the scooters we currently have at our school are too small and my older students cannot sit comfortably on them. With the scooters the students will get to ride on them while they learn about force and motion. First they are not allowed to touch the scooters. We watch the scooters hoping they will give us a show! Then we realize that "an object at rest cannot move unless a force is applied." Every student gets a partner and one student sits on the scooter while their partner pulls or pushes them. With very clear directions the students learn about the two forces of pushing and pulling. They also learn how the force affects the speed and direction of the object.
