Children spend too much time on phones, tablets, video games and watching television. Instead, they need to use their imagination to work together to build and create and have fun. These toys will spark their imaginations and help them learn to solve problems, make plans, learn from mistakes, share and compromise. Children need opportunities to talk to each other while they laugh and play together. Oral language development happens most naturally in play situations, as children cooperate, negotiate, describe and explain what they're doing. Talking during play is crucial to social, emotional and language development, which are all essential kindergarten skills.
