Flexible seating transforms stationary sitting into an activity, ideal for active sitting environments. We all need a variety of postures and movements throughout the day to feel our best. I am making a movement towards a "motion promotion" in my classroom, which simply means integrating more movement throughout the day. Some of the objectives in the classroom are simply this: happy, focused, and productive kids. Kids love choices and they love to move. Movement improves brain development, increases nerve connections, and solidifies learning. Simple things like having different seating options are important practices for teachers to incorporate into their teaching. Another objective of this project is it has been researched and proven that children with attention issues squirm and fidget because the stimulation of the extra movements helps them focus and pay attention. An evaluation will be done on an ongoing basis. To observe and monitor my students who have trouble focusing. Thank you for consideration of the grant and I hope to present the grant to my staff and administration this fall.
