Coding can begin at the preschool level. Children are interested in robots so I plan to use that motivation to introduce coding to them. Botley is an effective way to do that. My three, four, and five year olds will have fun “playing” as they learn new language, math, social, and science skills. Children will learn academic skills such as counting, direction, and problem solving. They will also learn social skills such as turn taking and working cooperatively with others, which is just as important. I also plan to use Botley in my language and literacy activities. Children will code Botley to retell stories such as “We’re Going on a Bear hunt”, “Three Little Pigs”, and “The Very Hungry Caterpillar “. Thank you for your time and consideration in helping me acquire this tool that will be utilized in so many areas of learning.
