The Kindergarten team would like to purchase blocks and other manipulatives to help our children develop fine motor skills as well as social skills as they work together to build and create structures. Many of our students do not spend a lot of time building with blocks and other such items and often come to Kindergarten needing help with fine motor skills. They also spend a lot of time on a screen and do not take time to build and be creative.
Our second language learners need opportunities to listen to their peers and be a part of interactive learning centers to help them with their language development skills.
Our Kindergarten team is asking for manipulatives such as: magnates, Crystal climbers, playstix and geosticks to help our students strengthen their fine motor skills and creativity to build and create structures as well as develop social skills as they learn to share and communicate their needs and excitement about what they build. We are also asking for some math manipulatives to help with counting such as counting cars and ten-frame dice. We also have a mystery box on our list so that we can put a variety of items in the mystery box and have the students increase their vocabulary as they describe the things they feel inside the box.
