Reluctant, or even bored, students are completely engaged and excited to participate when they have the hands on opportunities that science experiences, and extended art projects are provided in or classrooms. Learning becomes magical when students are given these kinds of opportunities. The first time a student finds the skull of a rodent in an owl pellet they are hooked. They can't wait to find more. This experience can last several days because the students love it that much. When after the experiment we can extend it with an art activity they can't get enough, and they are so proud of what they create.
