In a self-contained classroom, I teach young children (3 to 4 -years-old) with delays and/or disabilities. In Early Childhood Special Education we create a learning environment that will enhance the skills of each child. My students have challenges with their cognitive and adaptive skills, fine/gross motor skills, social-emotional skills, communication (expressive/receptive language) and behavior. In our classroom we create goals and engage in activities that will target each child's developmental domain causing them to flourish and reach their full potential. We also spend a great amount of time with our typical peers for positive peer models. We also work with a physical therapist, occupational therapist and speech therapist. What was once a weakness becomes a strength, and what was already strength is magnified.
