Teaching remotely has it's challenges. One challenge has been being able to write legibly while sharing my screen. I find that during math instruction, the white whiteboard is difficult to navigate with the mousepad alone.
By using an iPad and an apple pencil, I will be able to share my screen and annotate using a pencil instead of a mouse.
One way students will benefit from this by staying engaged. When more time is being devoted for instruction instead of erasing and/or rewriting things that are not legible, students will stay interested in the lesson and have less distractions.
Another way students will benefit from these products is during our writing block. When modeling how to draft, revise, and edit paragraphs, students will be able to view in real time what the process actually looks like. In other words, it would mimic what this would look like if they were in the classroom; watching me model it using anchor charts or the smartboard.
During reading, students would benefit because I will be able to highlight main idea, as students verbally indicate what it is, or underline details in a displayed passage for example. During science and social studies, anything can be accessed and displayed on screen. Also any document can be annotated. This will be a tremendous help as we continue to navigate through online learning!
