Hexbugs ability to move, turn, and rebound simulate real creatures without have the associated challenges of using live critters in classrooms. Students will use the hexbugs to test the strength of their invasive species traps, creature 3d mazes, and animal habitat models. Hexbugs are an accessible entry to robotics and help students actively engage in collaborative projects. Our students' overcrowded classrooms do not allow for many large, single use supplies. Applying engineering and design concepts helps prepare students for 21st Century careers. Helping them see how they can be creators, builders, and makers in their everyday lives engages them deeply.
