After reading The Book Whisperer this summer, I was inspired to give my students more independent reading time and share what we're reading together to get them excited about reading. I told them after Christmas we would be able to read chapter books. They're hooked on reading and all my chapter books are being read! We also play a reading/writing game and they write the words we're learning on whiteboards. My whiteboards have been well worn and are starting to become a hazard with the metal separating from the board. The whiteboards and Magic Treehouse books will be well used on a daily basis.
