Building self-esteem with reading is crucial for students to succeed in school both socially and academically. The books included in this campaign will help students who are struggling with reading fluency and comprehension by giving exposure to books and stories that are fun and engaging while also emphasizing valuable life skills. This program is exciting to me because it encourages growth in reading and in social/emotional maturity for 2nd graders while also helping our 4th and 5th grade students with developing leadership and mentorship skills. Books like Be Where Your Feet Are, Wilma Jean the Worry Machine, and I Just Want to Do It My Way! are fun to read and give the kids a healthy model for how to handle situations that are difficult and stressful.
