Read aloud's are not only my students' favorite parts of the day but one of mine too! In first grade, we use a variety of texts to engage students with new topics and help to fuel their love for reading. Throughout the year, we read aloud together, in pairs, and practice our reading independently. As a teacher, I truly believe that the best opportunity for my students to increase their love for learning is through reading high-quality books with interesting topics! We incorporate reading across all subject areas, not only in language arts but also in math, social studies, and science. Providing this diversity helps keep my students engaged in the material and motivates them to explore further. I love being able to share my love for reading with my students. I believe the books I have selected for this year will not only help expand our classroom library but will also provide students with the best opportunity to be successful. We will use these books together during our read-aloud times and students will also have full access to explore them independently. I am confident these books will my engage students in the standards I promised to teach them and know that they will be thrilled to have them!
