Incorporating engineering design in the middle school classroom is a positive way to reinforce science without the stigma of failure. 20% of my students are English language learners; others have intellectual disabilities. But all these students can fully feel successful with an engineering design project. Whether they are only 1 day or multi-day projects, my students love these projects. Materials for a successful engineering design project are commonplace (rubber bands, cups, tape, glue guns) and not expensive per student, but the cost adds up when for 130 students. Please help tomorrow's engineers design watercraft, catapults and zip lines. Thank you.
