My students will need quality instruments to learn how to read, play and produce music of a good tone quality that is enjoyable. Without these instruments, they have no instruments to play other than the basic, non-pitched percussion instruments. These materials will give the students the means to learn music in a productive and cooperative fashion. It will prepare the students for future band, orchestra and choral ensemble work. Cooperation and collaboration are the two most important skills in the twenty-first century and this project will enable this. The students will learn the concepts, but will have to work out the notes, fingerings and timing together as a group, getting ready for performance.
