We have a high population of English Language Learners but don't have enough guided reading books to engage them in the their own native language. Research shows that English Language Learners need to first become proficient in their own language before they begin to learn a second language, in this case, English. We need resources that are at their level, which is in many cases very low, as many of our students come to us without any prior formal schooling. This is perhaps the greatest need in our district, as these students have so much to learn and so far to go. Help give them the resources they need and deserve.
