My school is located in CA. We have over 65% of our student population with reduced/free lunches. Most of our students are bilingual and many are immigrants. They speak Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, Tagalog, Portuguese, Eritrean, and other languages. We try to bring their cultures into our studies and have them show us where their families are from originally. Last year, we had families from every continent except Australia. We are from a community of diverse cultures. Because our families are low income, they have limited resources to support our school. Our district offers breakfast to every student who wishes to eat in the morning. Our lunch lines are often long. We also subsidize field trips when parents cannot afford to pay. We try to provide as much support as we can to our student population so that they are not excluded from activities.
