The reading/writing workshop model can become noisy and distracting for students as they work at their own independent levels. These materials will help to better meet the needs of my students’ different learning styles and enrich their learning environment. ESL students and non fluent readers will benefit from whisper phones to hear themselves read while not disrupting other readers and writers. Emoji cushions will provide comfortable reading areas where students can spread out, as opposed to our current set up of a single rug and hard metal chairs. Social studies materials will be used to help us better understand our history as we expand our persuasive writing unit to include supporting our opinions with facts using informational text.
