These items will be in the house area and will help the children interact with one another in new ways. The doctor kit is always a favorite and children go to the doctor often and like to pretend to be the doctor. Especially children with special needs, they go to the doctor more often and it makes them feel more comfortable seeing a doctor kit and they find a sense of ownership getting to be the doctor at school. They will check the teachers' ears and listen to the teacher's heart. They will carry this on with the police and nurses dress-up costumes. Other kids can't wait to be a policeman and unfortunately, have had interactions with policemen, so it gives them another sense of control to pretend. I used to have these things but moved to a new classroom and they have to stay in that classroom and my classroom is brand-new this year. Thank you.
