We are in a brand new site since our school is in the burn zone of the recent Camp Fire and are lacking most of our materials. I am trying to set up a science lab so our students can continue to do real science labs this semester. Without access to our regular classrooms, gathering materials has been challenging. I have been changing all my regular chemistry labs to make them more "kitchen chemistry" friendly since there is not space in our temporary facility to have a full and safe science lab. OHAUS Scout balances with a 0.01g accuracy are an important tool in measuring small amounts of materials that students use in labs. Having accurate balances for use in science classes is important especially in chemistry. It is very difficult for chemistry students to be able to experiment with concepts like conservation of mass and stoichiometry without accurate measuring instruments. Therefore, we are requesting these balances. Not only will these help the students this year, but these can be used year after year to help all of my future students as well.
