I selected a Farm Market Place and a Pet Care Center. They will be used to increase language and communication with non-verbal children that use communication devices. It will be used to develop social and emotional skills by teaching the children to interact with one another, share, take turns, and waiting. I will be working with the speech and language pathologist to create pictures and scripts for the children to practice their communication. The dress up costumes will be used to increase the children's creativity and imagination. Each costume will be introduced to the children by teaching them what the costume is and what role they play within the community. The speech and language pathologist will also be involved assisting with creating visuals, pictures, core boards, and scripted play. The ultimate goal for the play project is that the children will become more independent in functional play.
