My school and class have limited resources. My 6th grade class of 110 are at risk students and have not had an opportunity to read a chapter book. They only have been able to read passages. I want them to feel the richness of reading a great book. I picked Wonder because it is such an inspiring story and bullying is such an issue in our middle school class, I thought this would be great to get the students to understand their actions. They would be able to help my struggling readers because the book is one they can relate to. We will be breaking down chapters for comprehension, vocabulary, synthesizing and other ELA skills in the spirals. I just want to give these students a chance to read a book and grow their minds. Our schools budget is unable to purchase books for my class, so this would be such a blessing.
