In kindergarten a lot of the learning is done whole group. This means that the students are all together with the teacher, learning the same thing and working on the same task as a whole group effort. There are times when students will sit at their tables but most of the learning is done on a large carpet, big enough for every student to sit. The carpet that is currently in the classroom has been there for a number of years and is worn and has seen its fair share of learners. This carpet is where all the magic happens! Students will gather on this carpet for most of the day! Students will also work together with classmates, playing games and completing assignments on the carpet. Students need to feel comfortable when learning, so sometimes they like to lay down while working. There wont be a day where the carpet wont get stepped on, laid on or sat on. I would love for my students to have a carpet that is conducive for learning, a carpet that looks just as great as the rest of the classroom!
