Owl pellets provide an opportunity for every student to learn something new. Students will be amazed by looking at the tiny bones they find in the pellets with the magnifying glasses. They will become archaeologists of sorts as they search the chart to match their bone with the owl's prey. Owl pellets are a great way to give students a hands on discovery learning experience. Even the students who are a little grossed out at first want to take a few bones home in a baggie. This hands-on science activity leads right into some great science journal writing and class discussions.
