Reading a novel as a class creates a sense of community and fosters strong discussions and reflections among students. Up until this point, we have been reading our class novels online since our students are 1-1 with iPads. As a second year teacher, I would love to have class sets for our final two novels of the year. A class set of books allows for students to hold the book in their hand and feel the excitement as we turn each page. Students don't need to scroll to find the page number or become distracted by notifications popping up. They can feel the magic that comes from turning each page and finishing a book as a class. Students will be anxiously waiting to read both novels (a thrilling mystery with clues along the way, and a fiction novel about a former bully with memory loss).
