Many of my students demonstrate difficulty staying seated and paying attention during instructional time. Majority of the students rock their body for self-regulation. Flexible Seating allows movements that my students need. Students will be given a choice of seating before instructional time to encourage their ownership. Difficulty with vestibular (the sense that detects movement through sensory receptors in the inner ear) processing can result in a child who needs to move constantly to feel satisfied or result in difficulty coordinating and planning motor tasks. Flexible Seating will help my students calm down and regulated. Consequently, it will increase their attention during instructional time.
