Many of our students carry trauma into schools and classrooms. In order to support their emotional health and social development, they need guidance from caring and supportive adults. With this project, I hope to provide gross-motor and sensory options for students to use to regain their emotional regulation and increase their executive functioning skills through active play-based activities. Our school has a classroom designated for children to take scheduled breaks throughout the day and release the stress they carry in their bodies. Currently, the room does not have any gross motor materials that will allow them to focus on the mind-body connection. This grant will provide materials for our behavior tech to meet our students various physical needs.
